At the physiological level, all of life is neurological. Our neurological potential and power are inexpressibly huge!
Nothing happens without the brain/central nervous system’s precisely calculated response. Better yet, our neurophysiology comes programmed as an antenna to the cosmos - a radio receiver and transmitter with Infinity as the Quantum Field - a mouthpiece for the sacred song on the wind.
With Polyvagal Theory Dr Steven Porges showed the neuroscience of connection: in threat and danger we disconnect in fear and alarm; in forced isolation, we wither and withdraw; whereas trusted social connection which includes eye contact, facial expression, and voice tone rebuilds our nerves and brains.
The electromagnetic signature of the nervous system varies drastically when we are in fear versus feeling bonded and safe. We unconsciously read each other’s frequency to answer the primal question “friend or foe?” We co-regulate each other.
Thus awareness of our own signature and hence effect on others benefits all.
Meanwhile our connection with each other changes the field…
Brain research now links compassion with highly integrated brain function, strong immune resistance, and lasting states of joy.
In the 90’s, the Dalai Lama pioneered a research think tank on meditation and higher brain function. For monks with thousands of training hours, deep compassion was a focus of meditation and a steady state of being. Lay people were trained to access these meditative states using compassion as well. Both groups generated a stable, expansive high frequency correlating to more evolved brain function, and a nervous system able to project and direct healing to those in need.
When Gregg Braden met Tibetan lamas and rinpoches in the remote mountain monasteries, he asked them a question: ‘What holds the universe together?” and they answered in one word : “Compassion.”
More than a feeling, compassion is a coherent and transformative energy field that unifies and heals.
TRY THIS:
*Allow your heart to blossom with gratitude for someone who helped you recently, and breathe deeply in and out.
*Now imagine gifting someone else who comes to mind at this moment, even if it’s your puppy, just because you can!
*In this shared field of completion and delight, breathe fully and open yourself to the essential Goodness that is.
May compassion surround, infuse, and bless your days…
