Back in the old days of having a personal physician, the patient-physician relationship was more... personalized. Nowadays, with the dominance of huge "healthcare" institutions, the treatments and procedures are tailored to the efficiencies of the institution, not to the needs of the individual.

I have never been a ‘fan’ of the allopathic/modern medical system. And for most of my adult life I did not have “health insurance”. I sought the ‘care’ of chiropractors, acupuncturists, ‘healers’, and other ‘holistic’ practitioners. And I paid for it myself. Then when I turned 65 I fell into the Medicare ‘healthcare insurance system’. It’s awful at best.

Thankfully the NP I saw at my previous private practice doctor’s office, moved to a ‘group medical practice’ (after my doctor retired and closed his practice.) I don’t care for the medical group she is with, but she can still ‘prescribe’ the compounded pharmacy prescriptions I use. And I see her there once a year. Now, if something is “going one with me” I treat myself, or go see my acupuncturist or my chiropractor.
